Everything in its right place (all smiles now)
2022Vinyl text and silkscreen displayed on lectern stand.
This simple installation attempts to examine the layered sequence of academic space and the shifting optics of our individual encounters.
The text – a substitute for the fine art object adorns the wall, articulating the unspoken hierarchy inherent within our encounter.
Everything in its right place could easily be everyone in their right place – language that is both contextually specific and subjective.
The lectern style signage is intended to evoke and subvert a formal academic language familiar within cultural spaces. The text within the silkscreen leans into a culturally specific dialectic.
