Siobhan Wall - The Aesthetics of Care in the Time of Covid
Making artist's books as a (self) nurturing response to the Covid pandemic and lockdown.
'Vintage Advice For Corona People' is a recently published book of postcards from around 1900-1920 to which Siobhan Wall has added gently humorous captions. She will talk about how the aesthetics of care informed the making and design of the book. She'll compare socially aware work by contemporary artists with photos taken around 1918 - when many people were affected by a particularly deadly influenza. She'll look at how the status of ephemera such as postcards can be enhanced by contemporary artists, too.
Ralph Klewitz - Freedom to Create
I was born in 1965, grew up in Switzerland and studied visual communication design as well as fine arts. I 2011 I graduated with a Master of Arts in Contemporary Arts Practice from the Bern University of the Arts, and since 2014 I am a doctoral candidate in Fine Arts Practice.
The topics of my artistic practice and research in fine arts raise cultural, ethical and political questions and I negotiated those in various geographical contexts with meaningful and meaningless; intangible and tangible contents.
I will introduce my new book 'Freedom to Create' that can be accessed on my blog
