I had a very interesting and productive visit to the United States in November/December. I landed in Orlando and stayed somewhere near Disneyland but didn't go there. A Greyhound bus got me to Gainesville and I had a wonderful week delving in archives at the University of Florida. There I saw for the first time a collection of drawings from the 1940s by the chimpanzee, Alpha, who I have been tracing for some years now. In December, I went up North to libraries at Columbia and Yale. I am now working on an artist's book for the exhibition Co-existence, which is part of the Seeing with Animals conference at Eastern Kentucky University, opening March 22. The exhibition will include reproductions of six of Alpha's drawings, shown in public for the first time.
